Real GDP in 197 of the 244 EU regions with available data was higher in 2024 than in 2019, Eurostat reported on 22 October. Output fell in 46 regions and was unchanged in Spain’s Ciudad de Ceuta.

Across the EU, real output increased 5.6% over the period. Ireland’s Eastern and Midland region recorded the strongest regional rise, at 38.0%. The figures use the EU’s NUTS 2 regional classification.

This is a newly released account of activity through 2024, not a measure of this month’s economic growth. Regional GDP also measures production rather than directly recording how income is distributed among residents.
